The old house of the Maki Shinshichi family, a merchant in the beginning period of the Suzaka silk-reeling industry, has been refurbished as a museum. The kimono and glass in the Taisho period (1912 - 1926), as well as folk life collections by Oka Nobutaka, including daily utensils of the Richo (the last dynasty of Korea; 1392 - 1910), are displayed.

Kasaboko (or Kasahoko) Kaikan Dream Hall

Four festival floats and eleven kasahoko (ritual decoration of halberd, imitation flowers, and a heron on top of a big bamboo-and-paper umbrella) are displayed. Suzaka kasahoko has been officially designated as a folklore cultural property. In addition, the Suzaka Gion Festival is introduced on the three split screen.

Suzaka City Museum

The exhibition includes the materials for the Ishigoya Cave remains, where the world oldest earthenware was excavated, and the grave with piles of stones, the largest in east Japan, as well as the silk-reeling industry, which supports the life of the Suzaka clan.

Suzaka Hanga Museum/ Hiratsuka Un-ichi Hanga Museum

This museum, specializing in hanga, or woodcut prints, has a permanent collection of domestic works of the periods ranging from the modern through the contemporary age. Hiratsuka Un-ichi has had a big influence on the Japanese printing by giving lectures and workshops all over the country. His works from the 1920s to the modern age are also displayed.

Folk dolls and dolls wearing fashionable dresses collected from all over the world by Ms. Koike Chie, often called a Godmother of the fashion business, and an honorary president of Bunka Fukuso Gakuin, are exhibited in this museum. In the north side of the World Folk Doll Museum, there are four houses, transferred and restored, in the historical buildings exhibition; a private house with thatched roof, samurai row houses of the old Suzaka clan, the temple school, built in 1865 by the clan doctor, Itakura Yuseki, and the gate of the row houses of Koshi Jusaburo, who was called a king of the silk-reeling industry.

Tanaka Honke Museum

Japanese garden@Japanese garden
Five exhibition buildings, surrounded by storage houses and the Japanese garden are the highlight. In the exhibition, the traditions, handed down from generation to generation in the old Tanaka family is introduced. There is a cafe and a souvenir shop.
